Service Procedures

R&R and adjustment procedures for the brakes on the MF 65.

Source: MF 65 Workshop Service Manual (manual id=12). MF 65 has two seven-inch double-disc brakes mechanically activated with servo action. Linings riveted to discs (~3/16 inch thick) for long service life. Each wheel braked independently via right and left pedals; interlocking latch locks pedals together for master brake; spring-loaded pawl on left pedal locks brakes engaged for parking.

MF 65 brake adjustment: jack up both rear wheels and adjust pedals independently. Pedals must both engage and release at the same time and pedal height. Adjust by screwing brake rod yoke on (or off) brake rod to change rod length. Tighten or loosen the adjusting nut on each respective brake rod. Differential carrier plate Allen head screws torque to 10-12 ft-lbs. Brake lever support bracket bolts torque to 35 ft-lbs.
