MF 240 Guide

Massey Ferguson 240 Air Filter Cross Reference

The MF 240 uses a dry-type two-stage air cleaner with the same filter elements as the MF 135. The outer (primary) element handles bulk dust filtration; the inner safety element is the last line of defence before the engine.

Outer element: OEM 1447082M91. Replace every 500 hours or when the restriction indicator signals — earlier in high-dust field conditions. In harvest or cultivation work in dry conditions, inspect every 50-100 hours.

Inner safety element: OEM 1860841M1. Replace at every third outer element service. Never clean or reuse the inner element — replace it.

Cleaning the outer element: Tap gently on a hard surface to dislodge loose dust. Inspect by holding against a bright light and rotating — discard if any pinholes or cracks are visible. Never blow air from the dirty side inward.

South Asia and dry-climate note: MF 240s operating in Pakistan and India frequently work in extremely dusty conditions. Inspect the outer element every 50 hours in these environments and check the housing gasket and clamp integrity at each service. A loose clamp or cracked housing seal bypasses all filtration.
