MF 390 Guide

Massey Ferguson 390 Air Filter Cross Reference

The MF 390 uses the same dry-type two-stage air cleaner housing as the MF 265 and MF 290. The Perkins A4.248 breathes through the same filter elements across all three models.

Outer element: OEM 1447082M91. Primary filtration. Service interval: 500 hours or when the restriction indicator on the intake pipe shows red. In harvesting or tillage work with high dust loads, inspect every 50-100 hours.

Inner safety element: OEM 1860841M1. Replace at every third outer element change. This element is your last line of defence — it must never be cleaned or reused.

Inspection after cleaning: After tapping out the outer element, hold it up to a light source and rotate it. Any pinhole or crack means discard and replace — do not reinstall a compromised element. The cost of an element is trivial compared to a rebore.

Pre-cleaner maintenance: If your MF 390 has a pre-cleaner bowl or vortex unit, empty and clean it at every engine oil change. A full pre-cleaner passes dust directly to the paper element and collapses service intervals.
