MF 255 Guide

Massey Ferguson 255 Oil Filter Cross Reference

The MF 255 uses the Perkins AD4.212 turbocharged diesel — a turbocharged derivative of the A4.212 engine fitted to the MF 175, 178, 185, and 188. The oil filter is the same canister/cartridge design. OEM cartridge element: 2654342.

Cartridge vs spin-on: The original filter housing is a bolt-on canister that accepts the paper cartridge element 2654342. If the tractor has a spin-on filter fitted, the spin-on adapter kit (OEM 741614M1) has been installed — in that case use Wix 51460 / Baldwin B7 / Fram PH3614 instead.

Change interval: Every 200 hours or annually. Turbocharged engines are more sensitive to dirty oil — do not stretch intervals.

Oil capacity: Approximately 8.5 quarts (8.0 litres) with filter. SAE 15W-40 diesel engine oil.

Installation (cartridge): Drain the canister bowl, remove the retaining bolt, extract the old element. Fit the new cartridge and ensure both end seals seat flat against the canister body. Refit with a new bowl O-ring if available. Pre-fill with clean oil before fitting if possible.

MF 185 compatibility: The MF 255 AD4.212 uses the same cartridge element as the MF 185 (non-turbocharged A4.212). All cross-reference part numbers are interchangeable.
