MF 275 Guide

Massey Ferguson 275 Fuel Filter Cross Reference

The MF 275 and MF 285 Perkins AD4.236 share the same two-stage fuel filtration system as the rest of the late-production Perkins 4-cylinder MF range.

Primary filter: OEM 1447082M1. Inline filter protecting the lift pump from water and coarse contamination. Replace every 400 hours, or more frequently if operating in poor fuel-quality conditions.

Secondary filter: OEM 3637380M1. Final-stage filter for the injection pump. Replace every 200 hours without exception. The AD4.236 injection pump is a CAV/Lucas unit — it is expensive to repair and not tolerant of contaminated fuel.

Pakistan and South Asia note: Diesel quality in some markets contains significant water and particulate contamination. If your MF 275 works in these conditions, reduce secondary filter changes to 100 hours and consider fitting a pre-filter water separator between the tank and the primary filter. This single addition significantly extends injection pump life.

Bleeding: After replacement, loosen the secondary filter head bleed screw, prime the hand pump until fuel flows free of air, retighten, and start. Hard starting after a filter change means there is still air in the system — bleed again before cranking repeatedly.
